I’ve decided to spend half of my spare time on open source projects this month. I’ve actually tried it before, until I started working full time. Now I’m able to spend more time on other things, so I decided to try again in a more planned way. I’ll try to contribute to Servo as it is a very promising project and I’d like to work on browsers in the future. It is basically an embeddable browser.

Thankfully, after looking through the issues and the project’s Zulip chat, I found one simple probIem for which I was able to send a PR that got merged. It was a very humble issue, but landing a PR also means learning how the project works, how to build it, run it, and how commits and PRs are structured, which are all important things because all projects have a culture of their own and it is important to work accordingly.

My second contribution was opening an issue. As I was working on the issue mentioned above, I noticed that the Gamepad API was working inconsistently. I opened an issue detailing the problem and one of the main contributors pointed out a similar issue. I’m hoping to propose a fix in May.
